Choosing the right size children's bike is the most important decision you'll make. Use our size guide to find the perfect fit for your toddler — whether you're in Liverpool NSW, Sydney or anywhere in Australia.
Kids Bike Size Chart
All MyFirstBike balance bikes suit children aged 12 months to 3 years. Use the chart below to confirm the right fit.
| Age | Height | Inseam | Wheel Size | Recommendation | MyFirstBike Fit |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 12–18 months | 75–85 cm | 28–33 cm | 10" | Perfect fit — our 4-wheel balance bike | |
| 18–24 months | 85–92 cm | 33–38 cm | 10" | Ideal age for first balance bike | |
| 2 years | 92–98 cm | 38–43 cm | 10–12" | Great fit — building confidence fast | |
| 2.5–3 years | 98–105 cm | 43–48 cm | 12" | Upper range — still a great ride | |
| 3+ years | 105 cm+ | 48 cm+ | 12–14" | Consider next size up |
All measurements are approximate. When in doubt, choose the smaller size — it's easier to raise the seat than to lower it.
How to Measure Your Child for a Kids Bike
Measure inseam first
The inseam (inside leg) is the most important measurement. Your child should be able to place both feet flat on the ground while seated on the bike. This gives them full control and confidence.
Flat feet = safe ride
When your child sits on the seat, both feet should rest flat on the ground. If they're on tiptoes, the seat is too high. Adjust the seat height before every ride as they grow.
Allow room to grow
Choose a bike where the seat is at the lower end of the adjustment range. This gives your child room to grow into the bike and extends how long they can use it.
Helmet fit matters too
Always pair a new bike with a correctly fitted helmet. The helmet should sit level, two fingers above the eyebrows, and the straps should form a V under each ear. See our Safety Tips page for more.
